I recently turned 80 years-old and gradually realized that I was bored with myself. I had retired from a career as a chemical engineer in the oil and gas industry, and I no longer had a business card declaring who I was. So ArtAfter80 came about to feature art created by artists at least 80 years old.
So far, I’m the solitary member of ArtAfter80. My husband, John, is a probationary member since he is only 79 years old. Meanwhile, we’ve moved to an active adult (age +55) apartment complex. Art classes are a daily occurrence here so we’re hoping to encourage some “budding” artists to join.
I’ve had so much fun playing with alcohol inks (just the inks not the alcohol) and have been pleasantly surprised and impressed with what a retired 80 year-old engineer can produce. John is an engineer too and he had taken up acrylic paint pouring and has created some glorious creations.
We think we’ve come up with a good way to share our art by providing an automatic way to print and/or frame our art. With the restricted movement due to the Covid-19 epidemic, you can now shop and order prints of original art without having to go outside. And you don’t even have to wear a mask!
